Images That Endure — From the Darkroom to Digital Mastery
Photography at Shelton Technical Services combines decades of experience with a passion for creating images that last. Our work spans headshots, events, sports, portraits, and landscapes, capturing moments with precision and artistry.
Beginning in the 1970s, our roots trace back to the traditional darkroom, where film was hand‑developed and printed using wet chemistry. Today, we integrate that heritage with modern digital capture and archival printing processes, producing photographs that are both contemporary and timeless.

Archival Printing — Where Craft Meets Permanence
Platinum/Palladium Printing
Platinum and palladium prints represent the most durable
and archival photographic process known. These noble metals do not oxidize
or tarnish over time, allowing images to endure for centuries without fading.
Introduced in the late 19th century, platinum printing
became renowned for its rich tonal range, soft highlights, and unmatched
permanence, attracting legendary photographers like Alfred Stieglitz and
Edward Weston.
Our process combines historic techniques with modern
digital precision:
- Creating
custom digital negatives to control contrast and tonal range. - Hand‑coating
100% cotton papers (Hahnemühle, Arches) with light‑sensitive
platinum/palladium solutions. - Contact
printing under ultraviolet light, then developing using traditional wet
chemistry.
The result? Each print is unique, with the metal
embedded in the paper fibers, producing a soft, matte surface and quiet
tonal beauty that cannot be replicated by other processes.
Archival Giclée Printing
We also specialize in archival Giclée printing, using
pigment‑based inks on acid‑free, museum‑grade papers for exceptional
color accuracy, depth, and longevity.
Using Moab fine art papers and large‑format inkjet
printing, we produce images with a full tonal range and vibrant colors
that can last well over a century without significant fading.
